Drum Set Basics - 3.5 PD Hours
June 16 -- 8a to 12p
Attendees will learn how to confidently play basic drum grooves in frequently-performed styles to share with your novice drum set students.
This hands-on course covers a bit of history, side-by-side comparisons of drumming gear, drum set notation basics, the importance of choosing the right throne, "the clave" & more.
Percussion Care & Repair - 1.5 PD Hours
June 16 -- 2p to 4p
This interactive session will guide non-percussionist music educators in the proper care, storage, and repair of common percussion instruments, along with handy tips to prevent damage from occurring in the first place.
Bring one broken or mystery item to identify if it can be repaired, "up-cycled" or used creatively.
Tuned Percussion Basics - 2.5 PD Hours
June 17 -- 9a to 12p
A hands-on session to help non-percussionist music educators in the techniques for a wide range of tuned percussion instruments like xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel, chimes, crotales, and tympani.
Learn the proper playing areas for each instrument and the important features of new...and used...bell kits.
