This hands-on course covers a bit of history, side-by-side comparisons of drumming gear, drum set notation basics, the importance of choosing the right throne, "the clave" & more.
Latin Percussion Basics - 2.0 PD Hours
June 22 -- 2:30p to 4:30p / $35
This hands-on session will help non-percussionist music educators learn the basic techniques of hand percussion instruments commonly found in compositions for concert band literature like congas, bongos, timbales, and cajón, plus djembe, darbuka and more.
Drum Set Basics, Level 2 - 4.0 PD Hours
June 23 -- 8:30a to 12:30p / $130
PREREQUISITE: Level 1.
Attendees will learn how to confidently play basic drum grooves in frequently-performed styles to share with your novice drum set students.
This hands-on course builds on the skills learned in Level 1 and adds basic jazz, Latin, reggae, and country to the styles you will master.
For Band Students
Kelli leads her unique drum set sessions geared toward concert band percussion students who have little or no drum set experience.
Students will gain basic skills and the confidence needed to play their first drum set pieces with their school orchestra or band on compositions calling for drum set.
