Music has been a part of my life since I was a child. I started playing the piano at age 7 and have been hooked on music ever since. She is experienced in musical theatre, recording sessions, large-scale productions, blues, jazz ensembles, British-style brass band, country and pop, and more.
Kelli Rae has designed courses for music educators, especially those who did not take percussion techniques or who would like a refresher. Topics include drum set basics, tuned percussion techniques, and the care, maintenance, and repair of percussion gear.
Kelli Rae is the owner and operator of MSP Percussion, LLC, serving the Midwest with hard-to-source rental instruments and sound effects for professional and community performing groups. MSP also provides maintenance and repair services, including tympani head changes.
Today's girl and woman drummers have come from a long legacy of the female drummers from the past. The musicians featured in "A Different Drummer" whether amateur or professional, were born at least 100 years ago. You can support the research efforts by sponsoring one or more vignettes of your choice.
Kelli Rae has developed hands-on masterclasses for school-aged musicians on drum set, percussion accessories, the history of the early drum set, and improvisation. Her online course "Crash! Boom! Bam!" is a fully-remote, hands-on, instructor-led course ideal for younger players who wish to master new skills.
